AltLayer Joins Optimism’s Superchain Ecosystem

Delighted to share that AltLayer now serves as one of the partner Rollup-as-a-Service (RaaS) providers for Optimism’s Superchain ecosystem.

The Superchain is a horizontally scalable network of rollups that will share security and a communication layer, built on an open standard codebase, the OP Stack. Built as part of the grand vision to become “the platform for chains’ ‘ that can rival the Web2 giants in scale and capability, the Superchain aims to transform a rather fragmented L2 space into a unified, interoperable, and composable system.

The Superchain will present a host of benefits to developers, including but not limited to:

• A shared bridge across all OP Chains
• Cheap on-chain deployment
• Customizability
• A Common sequencing layer

How does AltLayer fit into the picture?

AltLayer’s RaaS offering aims to make it easier to customize and deploy application-tailored rollups. By leveraging AltLayer, dApp builders who wish to become a part of the Superchain can do so without having to deal with any of the hosting and maintenance of the node infrastructure that underpins a Superchain rollup. This can save substantial time, manpower, and resources for dApp developers and allow them to focus on their expertise dApp development.

AltLayer is also collaborating with the core OP Labs development team to bring a new fault-proof system that will operate over WASM. This new proof system will be made available alongside OP Lab’s in-house Cannon fault-proof system that operates over MIPS instruction set. A multi-proof system also referred to as proof system diversity is important for security to handle scenarios where one of the proof systems might have bugs. More details on the inner workings of AltLayer’s proof system and how to use it for a rollup will be released in the coming months.

The team recently also released a playground testnet of OP Stack + EigenDA following the integration of EigenDA into OP Stack by the EigenLayer team. This allows builders in the Optimism Superchain ecosystem to now use EigenDA as an alternative data availability layer to lower gas costs and provide a better end-user experience.
